Identifying athletes who are more at risk and vulnerable to doping behaviours is important for the athlete’s entourage as well as the athletes themselves. By being able to recognise at-risk individuals and at-risk periods in an athlete’s career such as injury or transition to different settings, allows for proactivity in prevention of doping.

Prevention of doping is the primary goal of anti-doping, which is covered in this section through the explanation of education programmes including how they should be delivered and who they should be targeted to.
